Julia Emily Knox is an English transplant, trained first in fashion and then as a milliner at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. She heads up a small team of milliners at East Village Hats. In the small but cleverly designed space, they hand craft the hats on the premises, using traditional tools, methods, and materials. Julia's hats are a contemporary take on classic vintage silhouettes and often utilize vintage materials.
While completing the millinery certificate program at FIT, Julia joined Barbara Feinman Millinery in 2012 as Barbara's assistant, eventually becoming her business partner. Julia took over the business when it moved to its current location in 2016 and became East Village Hats. Barbara Feinman, who began her millinery career in the early 90's, was a founding member of the Milliners Guild.
