Celebrating September as Textile Month in New York City, the Milliners Guild is collaborating with the NYC Fire Museum with pieces handcrafted by Guild members in various materials, each an individual homage to the bravery and passion of firemen throughout history. The pieces will be on display starting September 15th. The installation will remain in place for two weeks only, housed on the gorgeous second floor of this hidden gem of a museum, amid the Turn-of-the-Century helmets and archival fire apparatus that sparked the idea for this "collection". Hats are hot stuff, and the Museum's expansive collection of international helmets and headgear lends itself to creativity.
The museum is open 7 days a week from 10am - 5pm. Admission is $8, $5 for children 12 and under, seniors, and college students with ID. Children under 2 are free.
PLEASE NOTE: the museum will be closed Saturday, September 24, for a private event.
