Janet is currently the head milliner at the Metropolitan Opera and the senior millinery instructor at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.
Her millinery career began in 1979 in Atlantic City, making very large hats for very small costumes in the new casinos.
In 1987, she was offered a position as an instructor at FIT. Also in the late 80's, missing theater work, she began freelancing for both theater and fashion companies in NYC, Canada, and all over the US.
In 1991, she opened her own business making hats for Broadway, movies, and various life performance venues.
In 1997, she was offered the position as head milliner at the Metropolitan Opera where she leads a team of 3-4 craftspeople creating millinery for 28 productions each season.
