Sally learned to sew at a young age from her mother. With that skill, she was always making something. Returning from a trip to New York in her teens, she came home with a fashionable hat on her head and a new obsession. After years of seeking out and buying hats, she finally decided to combine her love of making things with her love of hats. Sally enrolled in the millinery program at FIT and soon after completing the certificate program, she began her business and joined the Milliners Guild. She is continually learning new techniques and has studied with internationally acclaimed milliners including Eugenie von Oirschat, Lina Stein, Jane Stoddart, and Laura Whitlock. Sally has recently had the privilege of working with Stephen Jones on the Marc Jacobs and Savage x Fenty headwear runway collections for NY Fashion Week 2019.
Sally designs hats for special occasions as well as casual everyday wear, and all her hats are meticulously handmade. Her creations are available from her by appointment and at The Hat Shop in New York. You can find her on the web at sallycaswellmillinery.com and on Instagram @sallycaswellhat.
