With a love of fashion and art, the struggle to find a way to merge the two ended when I was on trip to Seville, Spain where I discovered the fine art of Millinery. As a Brooklyn Expat living in Hamburg, Germany, I began my studies in London under Chlöe Scrivener (who started her career working with the former Queen's Milliner, Philip Somerville, as well as Philip Treacy). I continued my studies where I worked as the "American Apprentice" in Hamburg, with Ulla Machalett of Rotkäppchen Designs, who trained me with traditional german millinery techniques, including hand shaping felts and straws.
Working out of my studio in Brooklyn, under the name of Marine & Deerfield, I love working directly with my customers on their custom orders and selling at Trunk Shows. All of my hats are hand blocked with vintage or specially made blocks using the finest straws and felts which I collected on my trips to Florence, London, Hamburg, and Prague. Many of the vintage straws and felt hats are shaped completely by hand, which gives the hats a unique, one of a kind look.
