Claude Saint-Cyr

(1911 - 2002)

Claude Saint-Cyr established her Paris millinery house in 1937 and became known for her distinctive asymmetrical “Oblique” hats, which brought a modern sensibility to postwar fashion. Her royal clientele included Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret, whose 1960 wedding veil she created. Her collaboration with London couturier Norman Hartnell strengthened her reputation in Britain and France.
