This is Us!

Our members are from all over the US. We meet via Zoom once a month to discuss all things millinery! Above are some of our members from our last meeting.

Membership is only open for residents and/or citizens of the Unites States.

We have two levels of membership: Professional Milliner, and Emerging Milliner. Please see the descriptions of each below and click on the link to take you to the appropriate application.

Professional Milliner Membership

Please note that membership is open to milliners who are already in business as milliners and can show proficiency in millinery.
Memberships are annual and dues are $125 per year.

Application Requirements

Once we have reviewed your application, we will ask you to email detailed images of the following millinery basics and a letter of recommendation. Photos must be against a white or neutral background and be displayed on a mannequin head.

  • Blocked 1 & 2 piece hats (crown and brim) in felt (fur or wool)

  • Blocked straw hat (panama, parisisal, sinamay, etc.)

  • Wired brim

  • Swirled head size ribbon

  • Inside of hat without lining

  • Inside of hat with lining

  • Finishing details

  • Any image (2) you feel shows your particular strengths and style as a milliner

  • A letter of recommendation or testimonial this can be from an instructor, a client, or a business colleague

Emerging Milliner Membership

The Emerging Milliner category is for milliners who have a fair amount of classroom and/or internship experience and are working their way toward becoming a professional milliner. If you are currently studying millinery with the intention of becoming a professional milliner or are just beginning your business and cannot yet meet the requirements for full membership, we encourage you to join as an Emerging Milliner. Please note memberships are annual and dues are $75 per year. Emerging Milliner memberships do not include voting privileges or event participation.

Application Requirements

Once we have reviewed your application, we will ask you to email the following:

  • Images of 3 styles that best represent your work (must include at least one blocked hat - crown and brim - in felt or straw). Images must show inside and outside of the hat. Photos must be against a white or neutral background and be displayed on a mannequin head.

  • A letter of recommendation from a teacher, an employer, or a customer.

  • You will be partnered with a mentor for a period of 6 months to assist in getting acclimated to Guild procedures
